The Arkansas Football Helmet has gone through very few changes in the last 45 years. In 1964 the first Razorback made it’s way onto the side of the helmet which had a small redesign in 1967 and again in 2001, but overall the style has stayed the same. In 1976 Frank Broyles added small razorbacks to the back of the helmet as award decals, but Lou Holtz quickly rid the helmet of everything except the running Hogs when he arrived in 1977.
Fast Farward 22 years…. award decals are back in the form of a sledgehammer. No word on what the players have to do to earn the decals, but as you’ll see in the video below, the sledgehammer has been the theme for the off-season since Petrino took over before the 2008 season.
Bring your hard hat, keep swing’n, ’cause we’ve gotta chip away at this Conference Championship, SEC West, first sec win… everyday.
