Game Summary

983 Columbia, SC - Troy Hambrick ran one yard for the go-ahead score early in the final period as South Carolina rallied for a 23-17 Southeastern Conference victory over Arkansas.

Duce Staley rushed 21 times for 105 yards and Terry Cousin returned an interception 51 yards for a score for the Gamecocks (4-3, 3-2 SEC), who have won two in a row after dropping three straight.

Oscar Malone ran for 123 yards on 20 carries and Jess Cornelius and Chris Chukwuma ran for touchdowns for the Razorbacks (2-4, 0-3), who reached the SEC Championship last year but are winless in the conference this year.

Arkansas has dropped two of the last three to South Carolina but still leads the all-time series 3-2. The schools joined the SEC in 1991.

Hambrick's TD capped a 43-yard drive set up up by a poor punt and gave the Gamecocks a 20-17 lead. Reed Morton added a 46-yard field goal with 1:26 to go and Ray Green sealed the win with an interception of Pete Burks in the final minute.

Cousin's score came just 2:03 into the game as he intercepted Burks, who was just 6-of-19 for 70 yards and a touchdown. Both Green and Cousin notched their second interceptions of the year.

Arkansas tied it just over seven minutes later on a one-yard TD run by Cornelius and grabbed the lead at 10-7 on a 19-yard field goal by Todd LaTourette with 6:11 left in the first half.

The Gamecocks regained the lead with 2:02 left in the half when Zola Davis caught an eight-yard TD toss from Anthony Wright, who was 6-of-14 for 84 yards and an interception. Chad Barnhardt later replaced Wright and was 3-of-3 for 40 yards.

Chukwuma's four-yard scoring jaunt was the only score of the third quarter and gave Arkansas a 17-14 advantage.
