Auburn, AL - Dameyune Craig ran for a touchdown and passed for
another and Rusty Williams rushed for two scores to lead 24th-ranked
Auburn to a 28-7 victory over Arkansas in a Southeastern Conference
game.
Craig scored on an 11-yard run with 1:32 left in the second quarter and
hit Tyrone Goodson with a 26-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Craig completed 12-of-18 passes for 185 yards and rushed for 54 yards
on 16 carries.
"I wanted to put more pressure on their defense by rolling out with the
pocket which I don't think I have been doing a good job of," said
Craig. "But, I thought I did that well tonight. Overall, running and
passing, I thought we played well offensively."
Williams scored on runs of 15 and three yards for Auburn (6-2, 4-2 SEC
West Division).
Auburn recorded three interceptions and lead the nation with 18, one
more than Virginia.
"I really like this game, more than any other so far this season," said
Auburn coach Terry Bowden. "It was our best game of the year as far as
how it felt."
Arkansas (2-5, 0-4 SEC West), along with Vanderbilt, is one of two
schools that have failed to win a conference game. The Razorbacks have
lost four conference games by a combined 72 points.
Oscar Malone scored on an eight-yard run with 2:36 left in the first
quarter to give Arkansas a 7-0 lead. Malone finished with 88 yards on
16 carries.
Williams scored on a 15-yard run and Craig had an 11-yard touchdown run
in a 3:45 span of the second quarter to give Auburn a 14-7 halftime
lead.
A three-yard touchdown run by Williams 2:58 into the third quarter
increased the lead to 21-7.
Craig connected with Goodson on a 26-yard touchdown with 13:50 left.
Auburn leads the all-time series, 4-1-1.
