“We’re the only game scheduled for that time slot. … It’s not just about us, it’s about building the program for years to come, and that’s what we’re working on.” – Bobby Petrino before the Liberty Bowl

Grappling with recruiting and what it means to build a program through this post has brought clarity in some areas.
The Superior Format is Here
Briefly, Jacob’s Recruiting Profile entries are in the superior format to bring you prospect information. Besides being able to get you the information easily and more quickly, unless you subscribe to The Daily Prophet, your printed newspaper won’t have video so you can watch and hear the player. Local television doesn’t have the air time to devote to all of the recruits or to get video quickly. Radio has the time and audio, but you’re left with imagining what the player physically looks like. If you want to know, you don’t have to guess about any of it here. It’s Clear.
Bobby Petrino and Math
(Don’t let your eyes glaze over! This won’t be overly technical.)
Everything in Bobby Petrino’s football “philosophy” has some grounding in mathematical precision.

(This is something aside from Hog sports for the moment. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a post which will complement Jacob’s review of the Hog Football Recruits perfectly.)
I don’t know Scottie Pippen but have a good friend who ran with him in college. When I joined the Hendrix College students in Conway, Arkansas on the night of their rival game with cross-town foe, University of Central Arkansas, I sat with a group of like-minded students. You’ve seen them before, only these people were at a small school instead of a much larger academic institution like Duke or Syracuse. There was no sitting down or being quiet or failing to respond to any nuance on the court as loudly as they could with cerebral cheers (well, as cerebral as cheers can be) like,

With Jacob linking to the audio of the Darek Braunecker interview in his last post, I can’t back away from a little good-natured competition!
Check this out from my blog on July 12, 2008! I’ve improved it for Hog Database because ya’ll are worth it!
Go grab a Coke and some pop corn or maybe a pop and some nachos, keep your thinking cap close by, and enjoy!
Remember the lines from Good Will Hunting? “Ya’ like apples? How ya’ like them apples?”
********************************************
After many of us heard an interview with Darek Braunecker, a few things fell into place. The interview was conducted on June 8, 2008, on The Sports Animals with Shawn and Wally and is transcribed below.
Flashback to 10 days or so before December 11, 2007, Coach Petrino’s hire date at Arkansas. Many of us were listening to a local sports talk radio show, Drive Time Sports, when Atlanta Falcons’ Head Coach Bobby Petrino’s name was mentioned seriously for the first time. The words came not from a listener but from the hosts. As the hosts explained, their source was a sports agent who was a friend of Bobby Petrino’s agent. Part of the source’s information was that Bobby Petrino really wanted the Arkansas job.
In my eyes, it was a little late. Having some idea of the process and that people were already lined up, I thought it was a pipe dream that Petrino really wanted to come to Arkansas. Even if he did, the cards had to fall his way.
Why even bring this up [in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011]?
Bobby Petrino is too good of a coach not to draw interest from other schools! We need to understand how he came to Arkansas in order to fairly consider the new situations as they arrive…which brings us back around to the June, 2008 interview with Darek Braunecker.
The interview takes us behind the scenes to show us how much Coach Petrino risked to come to Arkansas. Even then, there are circumstances outside the story which support it. As Fans, we riding out the waves which others were making.
