Football: Former Local local stars fizzle

My post below mentions two tweets about football in particular.

“Losing Love For The Game Of Football.”

“Don’t Mean To Sound Un Appreciative But Its Obvious The Game Ain’t What You Think It Is.”

We are sorry to see Qunita go, but we all take our own paths. That said, anyone who’s loved to play football gets the urge to compete every fall and one with Quinta’s talent and size could certainly put his cleats back on again. Until some time in the distant future….stay tuned.

What follows are selected tweets or retweets from Qunita Funderburk since March 13, 2011, through today, April 4, 2011.   It’s uncomfortable to post these; however, some of those left out involved achieving 1000 Twitter followers during the tweets below.  To that end, they are hardly private.

A couple of words of caution are in order.  Here, one needs to look at the forest and not individual trees.  The context of any single tweet can be deceptive while, overall, they may leave significant impressions.

At times in these tweets, Quinta seems resigned to follow a particular course, but at the same time he seems to grapple with what he needs to do for himself.

As he decides what’s best for him, remember that we’ve all gone through these times and secondly that he’s still a Razorback who can be a tremendous asset to this team whether now or later.

[edit 4-7-2011] In response to a question about Quinta’s tweets, I gave the following answer:

They make a little more sense if you start at the bottom. They were posted latest first because of the time it would take to rearrange them, but here is a shorter narrative using the tweets. The more complete story is below in the tweets themselves.

He starts out with, “Looking Forward To Next Week..” on March 13. Of course, that was spring break. As you read through the tweets, “peake” is Chesapeake, VA where he’s from. 757 is the area code of Chesapeake, VA.

On March 14th he retweets these two lines:
“Distant lover soo many miles away”
“Relationships Come With Down Falls , Pain , Drama, & Doubts .. But For Something Good To Happen You Gotta Go Threw It…”

He counts down the next couple of days which isn’t too surprising. It’s spring break. Why not?

Over the next couple of days he tweets twice, “Love A Make You Do Some Crazy Things.” Closely afterward, Quinta indicates that he’s in Virginia for spring break. The story picks up toward the end of spring break.

On March 26 he tweets, “One Day Umma Stop Trying To Please Everybody…” Around that time he’s not wanting to get back to “the grind”. So far, nothing seems out of context or unusual. He seems resigned to making his life at school in Fayetteville after he gets back. “After This Week I Cut A lot Of People From Back Home Completly Out Of My Life…”

But then his tone changes the next day.
