The descriptions from the post-World War II articles are richly worded and will leave you wanting more. Which player was described as “eel-hipped” or how did Arkansas stay at the “top of the Southwest Conference heap?” What stadium had a sold out crowd of 12,500 people? Along the way, the Razorbacks battled such legendary players as Y.A. Tittle as they made Arkansas proud.

The story continues through the Arkansas Razorbacks 1947-1948 Season and Dixie Bowl appearance for all games save N. Texas.

The fighting Razorbacks bring back Coach John Barnhill, Clyde Scott, Aubrey Fowler, Ken Holland, Bud Canada and more as the Hogs faced the likes of legendary Doak Walker and Charley Conerly.

The Razorbacks struggled in 1948 to a 5-5-0 record under John Barnhill. Clyde Scott returned for his final year and underclassmen began carried the load as injuries plagued the Hogs, but the games were no less than exciting as Doak Walker returned as a nemesis and revenge was the theme for the year. The end of the year saw Clyde Scott going high in the NFL Draft for his outstanding efforts at Arkansas.
