Frank Broyles lead the Razorbacks to Los Angeles in September of 1973 seeking revenge for the Trojans 31-10 win over the Hogs in Little Rock to open the 1972 season. Arkansas went on to finish 6-5-0 in ’72 while USC finished undefeated and won the National Championship.
USC Coach John McKay and his Trojans welcomed the Hogs into the Coliseum on September 15, 1973 carrying a 17-game win streak and a #1 ranking. Although the Trojans ended the game by running the score up a bit it was close up into the 4th quarter. Ultimately, the Trojans’ defense was too much for the hogs holding All-SWC Running Back Dickey Morton in check, allowing only 73 yards on 12 carries.
